I haven't been all that active for writing stuff this past week. Did some research, fired off a couple of submissions, and thought about some upcoming forum contest prompts. But that's about it. Lately I've been reading through some posts on writing-related Twitter, and replying and posting some stuff there myself. I'm pretty new to it, so it's been an interesting experience thus far, with some unexpected twists and turns. We'll see how that goes. In real life world, Old Queen Mittens has responded well to pain medication for her arthritis. She's been getting up and lying down much more quickly than before, seems quite comfortable, and can still hop up onto my bed and work desk without issue. It's important to her to always be near me, which is endearing, and something I appreciate very much. I keep an electric blanket on my work desk and on the floor in my bedroom, and those are of course her favourite spots. Aaaaand it's sports time! Hockey season quickly approaches, and I'll be drafting my fantasy team on Sunday. I might do a little bit of research, but I mostly like to go by vibes. Even if I don't draft well, I'm very good at keeping an eye on trends and making sneaky pickups during the regular season. Being involved in fantasy hockey does have the effect of me watching way too many games over the season, but I usually have them on in the background while I'm doing other stuff, unless it's a particularly interesting/important matchup. I haven't been super-invested in Blue Jays baseball for a while, but boy, do I remember those back to back World Series Championships when I was just a smol one. I vividly recall watching the games on a 20" tube TV on CTV via rabbit ears, and later collecting the McDonald's cards (thanks Dad for buying tons of packs). Well, this past month has had me more engaged since a couple of those Bautista years. What a race right up to the end of the season ! Can't get much better than having the last games of the year decide the American League champion. It came down to the final day - if the Jays lost, and the Yankees won, the Yanks would've won the division and pennant. Well, they both won, with the Jays holding the tiebreaker. What a game. And it was close for a bit, 5-4 Jays. The Alejandro Kirk grand slam had me hootin' an' hollerin'. Til next time. Writing. Cats. Sports. Fun.
