The air has become crispy, and when I open the windows, I can hear the fallen leaves blowing around out there. I love it. Except that on Sunday, we got a new record high of 26C here in Ottawa, a couple days after my building management turned on the heat for the season. Ugh. Really wish my thermostat was more than a wall decoration.
Talking about the weather is a great way to hook readers into my writing journal, right? No? Okay, then it's sports talk time !
They actually did it. The Blue Jays were quickly down 0-2 in the series, tied it 2-2, fell to 2-3, and then won the last two games at home to become the American League Champions !! That Springer Dinger was amazing to witness, and big props to the pitching and defense. What a thrilling series! I'm excited for all the fans who never got to experience what I did as a little kid when the Jays won back to back in '92 and '93. On to the World Series on Friday ! In Writing World, I got a couple more rejections this week. We're up to 117 for the year now. The editor of Merganser Magazine mentioned in their form letter that for the month I submitted my story, June, they received 784 submissions and accepted 3. Damn. But we know how tough it is out there for paying markets, yeah? Just how it is. All you can do is keep trying.
We've also got the cover release for the Of Beasts & Bones anthology! I'm very excited to receive my print copy in Spring 2026. Very much looking forward to checking out the other stories in this book. And I'm even more excited about other readers and writers checking out my story THAW within those pages. I've always felt this short story deserved an audience, and thanks to Robin, it will have one.
There's nothing quite like having a book on your shelf that contains your own words. On printed pages. On them ole papery books. Love it. Keep up them writing efforts, friends, and LET'S GO JAYS !
