Absolutely stunned. Neither the men's or women's team could snap up a win in their respective gold medal games. The men's team was absolutely dominant today and had almost too many chances to win. It'll always be tough to do so against three-time Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck (who also won the Hart last year as the NHL's MVP). Here's the craziest save of this game: Canada also missed out on scoring on a long 5 on 3 powerplay, and had a few misses like this one from their superstars: Did 'Murca have a bunch of chances as well? Yeah, a few, but not nearly as many. There was a big double-post shot that could've swung the momentum, and the Canadian goalie Jordan Binnington made some spectacular saves despite looking a bit shaky overall. Overall, one of the best "winner takes all" games I've seen in a while, despite the low score and the unfavorable result. Was I entertained? Hell yes. It's too bad that this loss might be the last Olympics for some of these Canadian legends, like Crosby, Marchand, Doughty, and a couple others. But the future looks bright, especially with Macklin Celebrini looking incredible at only 19 years of age. Future team captain? Absolutely. I don't like how the overtime in the goal medal game is 3 on 3. Feels cheap. After a tough game like this ending up tied, it should be 5 on 5. But them's the rules. Can't complain. Our fellers had plenty of chances to finish this game, but couldn't quite get there. And here's the game winner: So, is my player of the week going to be the golden goal boy, Jack Hughes?
No, that has to go to Connor Hellebuyck, the best goaltender in the world.
